Woman In Qawra Charged With Assaulting Police Over Hamsters in Bar
A 40-year-old Italian woman living in Qawra has been remanded in custody after allegedly striking a police officer during an altercation at a bar in St Paul's Bay. The incident began when she placed two hamsters on a table and refused to leave.

Emanuela Cavarra, a 40-year-old Italian national residing in Qawra, has been charged over an incident at a bar in St Paul's Bay in which she allegedly hit a police officer on the shoulder.
The trouble began when Cavarra entered the establishment and placed two hamsters on a table. Staff asked her to put the animals away and leave, but she refused and became increasingly confrontational, prompting the owners to call the police.
When officers arrived, Cavarra allegedly resisted them before striking one of them. She was taken to hospital after appearing to be in a state of intoxication.
She was later charged before Magistrate Elaine Rizzo with insulting and threatening police, disobeying their orders, breaching the public peace, and being drunk in public. Cavarra pleaded not guilty, and her request for bail was denied.
Inspector Warren Galea led the prosecution. Lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar appeared for Cavarra.
