Tenerife Footballer Jesus de Miguel Dies After On-Field Collision
Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel has died, aged 30, after suffering a cardiac arrest following a collision with a goalkeeper during a La Liga 2 match against Andorra.

The incident occurred seven minutes into added time at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez, with the match level at 2-2. De Miguel, who had come on as a substitute in the 59th minute, was challenged by Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono after the ball was cleared from Tenerife's penalty area, with Owono's knee appearing to make contact with De Miguel's chest. Owono was immediately shown a red card as medical staff rushed onto the pitch.
De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest in an ambulance on the way to the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz, where he was admitted to intensive care. The match was abandoned shortly after the incident, with players visibly distressed on the field.
In a statement on Tuesday, Tenerife said they were "broken with pain" and confirmed the death of Jesus de Miguel Alameda, adding that his family had requested privacy.
De Miguel had joined Tenerife on a three-year deal in 2025. He had previously top-scored with 16 goals during Castellon's promotion campaign in the 2023-2024 season.
