Somali Man Charged With Importing Khat for Trafficking in Malta
Mohamud Ahmed Ali, a 32-year-old Somali national residing in Sliema, has been charged with importing the Khat plant into Malta in circumstances consistent with trafficking, a charge he has denied in court.
The case was initiated after Customs authorities flagged a suspicious packet arriving from France and alerted the police. Officers subsequently monitored the accused's movements over several days before arresting him at the moment he collected the package.
