Lorin Scicluna Sentenced to 8 Years In Prison For Injuring May Malimi

A former soldier has been jailed for eight years over the grievous injury of May Malimi, who was 17 at the time of a 2019 hit-and-run in Ħal Far that prosecutors described as racially motivated.

Lorin Scicluna was sentenced this morning by Judge Natasha Galea Sciberras after being found guilty of grievously injuring May Malimi in the 2019 incident. The prosecution had asked for a sentence of between 18 months and nine years.

On Sunday, a jury had acquitted Scicluna of the murder of Lassana Cissé and of the attempted murders of Mohammed Jallow, Ibrahim Bah and May Malimi.

His co-accused, Francesco Fenech, will face a separate trial. Fenech denies the charges and is presumed innocent.
