Hitler Mussolini Wins Local Election in Peruvian Town
A man named Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores has been elected mayor of Queropalca, a small town in Peru, after a tightly contested race.
Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores was elected mayor of Queropalca, a small town in Peru, running under the centre-left Ahora Nación party. He secured 34 per cent of the vote in a race where the top three candidates were separated by just 42 votes.
Little is known about Simeon Flores beyond his candidacy paperwork, which notes that he manages the Simeon Sac Investment Group. No explanation for his name appears in any official records or local reporting.
This is not the first time a Peruvian politician bearing the name Hitler has made headlines. In 2018, Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez defeated Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde in a mayoral contest for the district of Yúngar, telling broadcasters during the campaign: "I'm the good Hitler."
Meanwhile, in Namibia, Adolf Hitler Uunona won his fifth consecutive local election last year. He told the BBC: "As a child I saw it as a totally normal name."
