Arnold Cassola Files Libel Suit Against Neville Gafa

Momentum chairman Arnold Cassola has filed a court application against Neville Gafa, seeking damages over claims made during a television interview linking him to a construction site incident in which a 14-year-old girl was injured.

Arnold Cassola, chairman of the political party Momentum, has filed a court application against Neville Gafa seeking damages for claims made during a television interview broadcast on F Living on 7th October.

In that interview, Gafa alleged that Cassola was developing a block of apartments and that a 14-year-old girl was injured at the construction site due to health and safety negligence. The claim related to a July 2024 incident in Swieqi, in which a child fell into a manhole outside an apartment block covered with a piece of plywood.

Cassola, who is widely known for his vocal criticism of rule-breaking developers, confirmed that he owns one of the apartments in the Triq is-Swieqi block. He stated that he only became aware of the incident through news reports and acted promptly to have the manhole properly sealed.

In his court application, Cassola argued that Gafa's claims were false, caused significant reputational damage, and exposed him to public contempt. He noted that he had already denied the allegations on multiple occasions before Gafa repeated them.
