Thousands of women across Europe are protesting Poland's new abortion laws, including a group of women who held an impromptu protest in Valletta last night.
This comes after a court ruling on Thursday declared that abortions carried out when the foetus is malformed (which accounted for 98% of legal terminations in Poland last year) are now illegal.
The ruling has sparked mass protests, with thousands taking to the streets, defacing churches and clashing with riot police.
However, Poland’s laws are still not as harsh as Malta’s. Polish abortion laws allow exceptions for cases of rape, incest or if the mother’s life is in danger. Meanwhile, Malta has a blanket ban on abortion.
Do you think Malta should be protesting it’s abortion laws like Poland ?
