The war in Ukraine has been raging for almost 2 months now. Here are the latest updates:
The Russian military’s initial failure to take the entire country within the first few days of conflict is beginning to be re-evaluated by the Kremlin as it appoints a new chief of staff to spearhead a massive offensive across Eastern Ukraine. This they hope; will break the camel’s back and force the Kyivan government into exile/capitulation.
The besieged and devastated city of Mariupol is beginning to cough up the last of its resistance to Russian forces after weeks of horrific fighting. Among those fighters captured was the increasingly prominent British fighter Aiden Aslin, a 28-year-old former care worker who enlisted with the Ukrainian military prior to the conflict.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu made a statement to Russian state media where he conceded the fact that the supply of Western arms to the Ukrainaians was slowing down Russia’s military operations in the country. It was the first public appearance made by Shoigu in a few days after long-standing speculation over whether or not the minister was experiencing health issues.
