A recently submitted proposal for a newly built road in Santa Venera to be named after Miriam Pace has been turned down.
The proposal comes as a tribute to Miriam Pace, who tragically lost her life when her home collapsed on the 2nd of March 2020. The road is just 200 metres from the site of the incident. Instead of the proposed tribute, the government’s street naming committee voted in favour of the mayor’s proposal to name the road Triq l-Isportivi.
Darren Carabot, minority leader of the locality, submitted the proposal for the naming of the road last February. He recently stated that he knew that Pace deserved more than the name of a road but said this would have been a small gesture to continue remembering the reason why she died.
