Former PN parliamentarians Jason Azzopardi and Karol Aquilina will be contesting casual elections in a bid to get reelected, despite failing to get enough votes to keep their seat in the House. Two heavyweights of the Nationalist Party, both Azzopardi and Aquilina have been controversial figures in the PN’s ranks. Both were extremely critical of former leader Adrian Delia, and supported his removal in 2019.
Delia was elected on both the districts he contested this election and has secured his spot in parliament. His two critics are not keen on hanging up their hats and have vowed to keep on pushing for a seat in parliament via causal election. “Out of my respect for voters I will throw my hat in the ring, even though I am realistic and know chances are slim,” Jason Azzopardi said on Facebook.
Do you think the two Nationalist MP’s should stay on?
